Dieting is hard. It is like you have to forget what you are doing and bypass your time with distractions. The distractions that I personally enjoy are reading fashion magazines, playing games on the computer and watching chick flicks on TV. Also, having a very stressful job like I do is a huge distraction but it can often back fire when you forget to eat and then are completely starving. Managing your hunger is a big thing. Today I got so busy that I forgot to eat my snack so on the ride home I was absolutely starving. I needed to stop at the bank to make a deposit but the bank is right next to an awesome pizza place. I almost didn't trust myself to do my banking business and not partake in a slice. Fortunately, tonight I was successful and did not get pizza and when I got home had a healthy snack of three reduced fat Triscuits. It wasn't a huge snack but it was enough not to ruin my dinner but also keep me satisfied until dinner.

I have lost five pounds so far. I feel like it should have been more but real weight loss seems to be slow going as opposed to water loss. I've been relying a lot on lean cuisines when I am too tired to cook which seems like quite a few days with my gym schedule. Yesterday for lunch I had a Lean Cuisine pizza and then some veggies and chicken as a supplement. The pizza, for being a diet pizza was around 350 calories, pretty small and definitely not filling. My little container of chicken and veggies was more satisfying. Additionally, the Lean Cuisine pizza was filled with tons of sodium which I don't need to make my PMS any worse guys :). I could have had a real piece of pizza and it would have been healthier. If you are like me, I workout after work so by the time I get home I don't feel like preparing a whole dinner. That is my time to relax and catch up with my family and friends. The moral here is I'll have to take the time one day a week to cook and freeze some portions ahead of time. You have to try things for yourself and see how they go and learn from your mistakes.

I grew up in a traditional Jewish home where I was always told to finish my plate and where food was always in abundance. I’m not sure if that is a Jewish thing or just a thing. Everyone always wanted to feed me despite my chubbiness at different ages. My Grandmother would always make chocolate pudding when she knew I was coming. My Mother always kept Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip and Entenmanns cookies in our house growing up.
Unfortunately, the idea of finishing everything on my plate was a mantra that stuck with me over the years and I need to work on eating only until I am full. Then there is the whole definition of full, stomach versus brain. Do I feel sad? Am I happy? Both mean eating too much at times. It is so hard to break habits that were ingrained in us at a young age. All we can do is try…. Please write me and let me know your methods for not overeating at mealtimes.
